I have been looking through some artists in the 2D design/textiles area, and have found two artists work that particularly inspires me.

Firstly, Sara Fanelli. Her work is very relatable and playful, thought provoking -with that sense of story-telling to it. As well as that I was impressed at her ability to blend a whole mix of media into one piece (watercolour, pencil drawings, print, paper/found imagery, you name it!) and have it all come together. I realized after looking through her portfolio that I had seen her work before at the Tate gallery (a timeline spreading across several walls) and really enjoyed the different fonts she used.
Second is Oliver Kugler, who's style is quite different but equally effective. I find his reporter type drawings very interesting, documenting news with his sketches. It's almost like a social commentary. I also like his observational work (there is a lot of this!) it's very simple and clever, and like we have been learning, you can tell he thinks about composition -carefully positioning block coloured shapes with line drawings.
